Center Valley, PA (December 29, 2012) – Four players reached double digits and the DeSales University men's basketball team just missed scoring 100 points for the first time this season in a 99-84 blowout win over PSU-Abington on Saturday afternoon in the opening game of the Red Robin Holiday Tournament.

PSU-Abington showed some fight in the second-half pulling to within 11 points a few times but the lead never dropped below double digits before the final 15-point margin was posted.

DeSales shot 53.8 percent from the field and dominated the glass once again out-rebounding the Nittany Lions, 43-30.  DSU also had 24 assists on 35 made baskets and committed just 11 turnovers.  Eleven different players reached the scoring column in the win.

In addition to the double digit scoring leaders freshman Cody Deal and sophomore Jake Hungarter contributed off the bench with eight and seven points respectively and sophomore Michael Guldin had a good floor game with six points, four rebounds, six assists, and two steals.

In the other opening day game Centenary College got a three-pointer from Max Hughes with 18 seconds left and a last second three from Drew University was off the mark as the Cyclones scored a come-from-behind win, 65-63, to earn a rematch of an earlier season match-up with the Bulldogs tomorrow in the Red Robin Holiday Tournament Championship Game.

Hughes finished with 19 points leading the Cyclones, while the Rangers got a game-high 23 points from Mike Klinger in the loss.
