Pittsburgh, PA (February 29, 2012) – Junior Brett Moyer had a game-high 23 points in just 22 minutes and sophomore Paul Pammer added 18 points but the DeSales University men's basketball team shot just 31.8 percent in the second-half in a 78-68 loss at La Roche College in the ECAC South Region Quarterfinals on Wednesday evening.

The Bulldogs season comes to an end with a 15-11 overall record, while La Roche (19-8 overall) advances to the ECAC South Region Final Four featuring the top four seeds, #1 Juniata, #2 La Roche, #3 Catholic, and #4 Alvernia, all winners on Wednesday night at home.

Moyer finished the game shooting 8-for-12 from the field and added six rebounds to his game-high 23 tallies in the loss.  Pammer finished with 18 points and seven boards and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line, while sophomore Kyle Hash and senior Bob Zanneo each had 10 points in the loss.  Hash also added seven boards.

La Roche saw four players reach double digits including David Jackson (19 points), Andre Flanigan (18 points), Michael Dixon (17 points), Derek Barber-Richards (14 points).

The Bulldogs started strong, opening up an 8-2 lead over the first 3:26 on four points each from Moyer and Hash before LC tied the game at 14 at the 12:09 mark.  The game was tied six more times in the first-half before La Roche finished the opening 20 minutes on a 9-4 run to take a 44-39 lead into the break.

Pammer led DSU with 12 first-half points, while Hash scored all 10 of his points in the opening 20 minutes and Moyer finished with nine points, despite just six first-half minutes due to foul trouble.

La Roche scored the first four points in the second-half to open up a nine point lead (48-39) before DeSales pulled back within five several times over the first five minutes.  The Red Hawks then took control, using a 14-2 run over a span of seven minutes in which the Bulldogs scored just two points and attempted just three shots overall.

Down 16 points with 3:09 to go, DSU scored nine straight points to pull within seven on two free throws from freshman Michael Guldin with 1:19 left to play, but La Roche hit 4-for-6 from the charity stripe and punctuated the win with a dunk late to advance into the semifinals.

The Bulldogs conclude their season having won 15+ games and advanced to the post-season for the 11th straight year.
