Center Valley, PA (August 31, 2012) – Senior
Padraic Farrell assisted on all three goals leading the DeSales University men's soccer team to a 3-1 win over SUNY-Cortland in the 2012 season opener on a hot Friday afternoon.

Cortland (0-1) had an 11-10 advantage in shots, but the Bulldogs held a 9-5 edge in shots on goal.  Sophomore
Colin Sulpizio was terrific in net that included a diving stop on a blast from about 25 yards from Cortland's
Joe Buffolino preserving a 1-1 tie midway thru the first half.  Sulpizio finished with four saves on the day.

DSU started the scoring in the 12th minute when senior
Jonathan Balfour took a long pass over the top and fired a shot past the Cortland keeper off the far post and into the net.

Cortland tied it up just 2:23 later when
Alex Wilson headed in a flick from
Anthony Marinello off a corner feed from
John Recordon and the game remained tied at one entering the half.

	In the second half, freshman
Stevie Castellani could not have asked for a better start to his career.  Castellani subbed into the game for a cramping
Zach Davis in the 63rd minute just before a free kick.  On that ensuing free kick from Farrell, Castellani was camped on the far post and as the ball sailed over everyone's head, he was there to knock it into the net for his first career goal, a mere 5-10 seconds after he had taken the field for the first time.

	Junior
Josh Himes then added the insurance goal at the 73:49 mark, taking another perfect feed from Farrell on a free kick and heading it into the left corner of the net.

The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow afternoon as they take on Elizabethtown College at home beginning at 4:00 pm.
