Center Valley, PA (January 26, 2013) – The DeSales University men's basketball team overcame a three-point halftime deficit, out-scoring King's College by 15 points in the second-half in its 15th win in the last 16 games and its sixth straight completing the season sweep of the Monarchs, 73-61, on Saturday afternoon in Freedom Conference action.

The Bulldogs bench was story out-scoring the Monarchs pine, 29-8, in the win.  Sophomore Jake Hungarter led the way off the bench with 12 points, including two three's, and junior Kyle Hash finished with 11 points and five rebounds.  Senior Brett Moyer was also solid finishing with 13 points and nine rebounds as part of a balanced attack that saw nine of the 10 players that saw action reaching the scoring column.

The first-half was a defensive slugfest as both teams were well prepared for what the other team wanted to do on offense.  King's took advantage of 11 first-half turnovers by DeSales to take a 29-26 lead at the break, scoring the final four points after a Hungarter three had given DSU a 26-25 lead with 1:44 left in the opening half.  The Bulldogs stayed in the game by hitting 5-of-10 from outside the arc over the first 20 minutes of play.

After committing 11 first-half turnovers, the Bulldogs took much better care in the second-half, not committing a turnover and shooting 56.0 percent from the field en route to the win.

A jumper from KC's Pat O'Donnell with 4:37 to go completed an 11-4 King's run and gave the visitor's a one-point edge (55-54) but a four-point play on the ensuing possession including a three from junior Andrew Kohler just as a foul was being called on the Monarchs and a three on the very next possession from junior Paul Pammer pushed the lead up to six points as the Bulldogs scored nine straight points to take a 63-55 lead with 1:31 remaining and DeSales went 6-for-6 from the line down the stretch to ice the win.

Kohler finished with eight points including two three's, junior Mike Coleman had nine points and four assists, Pammer added seven points, and sophomore Michael Guldin totaled seven points and five assists in the win.

The Bulldogs finished the game shooting 48.9 percent from the field and 79.2 percent (19-for-24) from the charity stripe.  DSU also made eight three-pointers and had 17 assists on 23 made baskets as compared to just 11 turnovers for the game.

King's was led by Tom Heston with 15 points and 10 rebounds and Joe Caffrey who finished with 16 points.

The Bulldogs have a tough test this week taking to the road on both Wednesday (@ Delaware Valley College) and on Saturday (@ Misericordia University), putting its unblemished 8-0 Freedom Conference mark on the line.  Game time on Wednesday vs. the Aggies is 8:00 pm.
