Glenside, PA (November 23, 2013) – Arcadia University shot 14-for-27 (51.9%) from three-point land and the Bulldogs missed three of four free throws over the final 40 seconds, including two with a chance to tie the game with 24 seconds left, as the Knights posted a 90-84 win over DeSales on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

Sophomore Cody Deal led the Bulldogs with a career-high 23 points and eight rebounds before fouling out with 2:48 left to play.  Senior Mike Coleman added 17 points and six rebounds and fellow senior Kyle Hash had 15 points off the bench in 15 minutes played.

Arcadia saw four players reach double digits including Joe Brown with 21 points, Aaron Lee-Webb with 20 points, John Landro with 15 tallies, and Travis Saltus with 15 points.  Six different players hit three-pointers in the win for the Knights.

DeSales dominated the first-half, shooting 62.1 percent from the field and opening up as much as a 14-point lead on two occasions before settling for a 51-39 advantage at the break.  Deal led the way with 15 points.

Arcadia quickly turned things around to start the second-half opening up the second stanza with a 22-5 run to take a 61-56 lead with 13:06 to play.

The Bulldogs battled back and re-took the lead at the 8:23 mark on a three-point play from Hash as the game went back and forth over the next few minutes.  It remained a one-point DSU lead at 5:49 when the Knights scored eight straight points to hold an 83-76 advantage with 4:31 to go.

Four free throws from the Bulldogs and another three-point play from Hash made it a three-point game (86-83) with 1:21 left and the Bulldogs came up with a big defensive stop.  Hash was fouled again on the other end but made just one of two free throws as the deficit was two with 39 seconds left.

The Bulldogs attempted to trap the Knights in the backcourt but it was broken easily as junior Michael Guldin fouled AU's Landro just over halfcourt.  Landro missed the front end of the 1-and-1 and Coleman grabbed the board.

He drove the lane on the other end and was fouled, heading to the line for two and a chance to tie the game, but he missed both charity tosses with 24 seconds left and this time Landro hit two freebies on the other end before a late lay-up by Arcadia provided the final tally.

DeSales out-rebounded Arcadia, 36-29, but committed 16 turnovers for the game leading to 21 points for the Knights.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Tuesday as they make its season debut at home hosting local rival Moravian College for a non-conference game beginning at 8:00 pm.
