Bulldogs Run out of Gas in Fourth Quarter in 10-6 Loss to Catholic

Clearwater, FL (March 6, 2013) – A tying goal to start the fourth quarter was called back and Catholic University out-scored the Bulldogs, 3-0 in the fourth quarter, as the DeSales University men's lacrosse team dropped its first game of the season, 10-6, to the Cardinals in the first of two games down in Clearwater, FL during DSU's spring break trip.

The Bulldogs (1-1) trailed, 7-6, entering the fourth quarter but appeared to tie the game in the early stages of the final quarter but the goal was disallowed and Catholic (2-4) immediately made it a two-goal game and DSU was never able to find the back of the net over the final 15 minutes despite an 11-3 advantage in shots over the final quarter.

Junior Chalie Wilmer led the way with two goals and senior Jarrod Wiedow had one goal and two assists in the loss.  Senior Josh Martin, senior James Guerrier, and sophomore Ryan Loughlin also each scored a goal, with Guerrier and Martin adding assists.

Senior Brennan Gmeiner dominated the face-off circle once again winning 15-of-19 face-offs and picking up six ground balls.  Freshman Matt Warnken made nine saves in the net.

The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow when they face Clark University.
