Reading, PA (March 2, 2013) – The #2 DeSales University men's basketball team shot just 34.6 percent and saw its 2012-13 season come to an end, falling to #3 Juniata College, 69-58, in the semifinals of the ECAC South Region Tournament on Saturday afternoon at the Bollman Center on the campus of top seed Albright College.

The loss ends the Bulldogs season with a 22-7 overall record as DSU wins 20+ games for the ninth time in the last 11 years.  It was DeSales' 14th appearance in the ECAC South Region Tournament.  Juniata advances to the title game on Sunday afternoon awaiting the winner of Albright/LaRoche.

Junior Paul Pammer (11 points) and junior Mike Coleman (10 points) were the only two Bulldogs in double digits.  Sophomore Michael Guldin added nine points and senior Greg Peters led the way off the bench with seven points and five rebounds.  Senior Brett Moyer finished his career with five points and seven boards in the loss.

Both teams started slowly as two Guldin free throws at the 11:00 minute mark made it a 5-5 game.  It was back-and-forth over the next 3:12 with Juniata clinging to a 15-14 lead before the Eagles extended their advantage to eight with a 9-2 run over the next 3:30.  It was a 10-point game with 1:41 to go in the half before a Guldin three cut it to seven at the break.

The Bulldogs made a run at the Eagles to start the half cutting the deficit to just one point at the 14:58 mark on a three from junior Kyle Hash.  Juniata responded scoring the next nine points to take a 46-36 lead with 12:25 to go and the Eagles' lead peaked at 17 points twice as DeSales was unable to get any closer than eight the rest of the way.

The Bulldogs shook off a tough shooting first-half (28.0 percent) to shoot 40.7 percent in the second-half but the Eagles countered by shooting 51.9 percent in the second stanza to hold off the Bulldogs.

Kevin Stapleton scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Eagles.  Brian Scholly (11 points) and Alex Raymond (10 points) also reached double digits.  Raymond added a game-high eight assists in the win and Scholly had nine boards.
