Third Quarter Woes Continue as Bulldogs Fall to Kean, 18-9

Union, NJ (March 22, 2013) – Kean University scored six straight goals between the end of the second period and the start of the third quarter and totaled seven goals in all during the third frame en route to an 18-9 win over DeSales University on Friday evening in non-conference action.

The Bulldogs trailed by just one goal with 4:31 left in the second quarter but KU scored with just one second on the first-half clock and tallied the first four goals of the third quarter to lead, 11-5.  The Cougars finished the third quarter with seven total goals and led 14-8 thru three quarters of play before posting the final margin.

Once again DSU dominated face-offs winning 17-of-29, all by senior Brennan Gmeiner but Kean enjoyed a 49-28 advantage in shots in the loss.  Gmeiner also picked up 15 ground balls.

Sophomore Ryan Rowse led the charge with two goals and two assists, freshman Ryan Loughlin had a strong game with two goals and an assist, seniors Josh Martin and Jarrod Wiedow each had two goals, and sophomore Nate Blevins rounded out the scoring with one goal.

The Bulldogs will look to get back on track next week returning to action on Wednesday, March 27th traveling to Rosemont College beginning at 4:00 pm.
