Bulldogs Offense Goes Cold in 8-1 Loss to Misericordia

Center Valley, PA (April 17, 2013) – The DeSales University men's lacrosse team scored just one goal for the first time since the 2011 season falling to Misericordia University, 8-1, in Freedom Conference action on a perfect Wednesday afternoon.

After the two teams exchanged goals in the first quarter the Cougars scored once in the second quarter to take a 2-1 lead which stood into the half.

DSU started the third quarter a man-up for 55 seconds but was unable to take advantage and Misericordia made it a three-goal game at the 12:32 mark.  MU led 4-1 after three quarters and dominated play in the fourth quarter to post the final margin.

The Bulldogs once again dominated face-offs winning 10-of-12 in the game and held a 31-25 edge in ground balls, but Misericordia had a 32-26 advantage in shots and DSU committed 22 turnovers.

Senior Jarrod Wiedow scored the Bulldogs lone goal assisted by fellow senior Josh Martin.  Senior Brennan Gmeiner won 9-of-11 face-offs and had three ground balls and sophomore Bryan Correnti played well with five ground balls and two caused turnovers.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, April 20th when they host FDU-Florham in another Freedom Conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
