DSU Holds off Immaculata for 13-10 Win; Rowse Scores Seven Points

Center Valley, PA (April 3, 2013) – Sophomore Ryan Rowse scored three goals and added four assists and the DeSales University men's lacrosse team held off a third quarter rally by Immaculata University to record a 13-10 win over the Mighty Macs in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs dominated the first-half and after scoring the first goal of the second-half led 10-3 before IU scored six straight goals to pull within 10-9 entering the fourth quarter.

Rowse quieted the rally with his third goal and fed senior Ben Krocheski for another with 9:16 left to play to make it 12-9 and DSU cruised home with the win.

Once again the Bulldogs dominated the stat sheet out-shooting Immaculata, 38-25, and holding a 47-25 edge in ground balls.  DSU also won 21-of-26 face-offs but turned the ball over 30 times as compared to just 25 for the Mighty Macs.  The Bulldogs also cleared the ball in 19-of-20 attempts, while IU struggled converting just 18-of-33 clear attempts.

Senior James Guerrier had a strong first-half with two goals and two assists, senior Jarrod Wiedow finished with one goal and two assists, and senior Billy Marsh scored twice.  Sophomores Nate Blevins and Lance Bracale each tallied one goal and one assist.

Senior Josh Martin, sophomore Andrew Cox, and Krocheski all scored once and sophomore Ryan Loughlin rounded out the scoring leaders with two assists.

Senior Brennan Gmeiner continued his dominance in the face-off circle, who entering the game ranked among the top five in the nation in both face-off percentage and ground balls.  Gmeiner added to those numbers winning 20-of-25 face-offs and picking up 12 ground balls.  Freshman Dylan Baxter added seven ground balls in the win.

DSU returns to action on Saturday when they open Freedom Conference play hosting Eastern University beginning at 1:00 pm.
