The story of this game was two contrasting styles as the Aggies lived behind the three-point line and for the first 27 minutes of the game it worked. The Aggies started the game 14-for-18 from three-point land, hitting their first four treys of the half, after holding a 44-39 lead at halftime when they connected on 10-of-14 from outside the arc.
DeSales (9-6, 3-1 Freedom) on the other hand was pounding the paint and the offensive glass and continually drawing contact to get to the foul line as they finished the game hitting 30 of 40 attempted free throws.
After DVC (8-7, 3-1 Freedom) hit its first four treys of the second-half the lead grew to 15 points (56-41) with 17:25 left to play and another three at the 12:45 mark made it a 10-point game with 12:45 on the clock.
The Aggies went cold the rest of the way, hitting just one more long range jumper over the final 12:45 on seven attempts as the Bulldogs chipped away.
Del. Val. led by 11 (64-53) after three free throws from Sullivan with 11:57 to go when the Bulldogs took the game over.
A 17-2 run over the next 6:40 turned an 11-point deficit into a four-point lead (70-66) as DeSales continually pounded the ball inside and drove to the rim. Coleman led the charge with nine points including the last seven during a run that featured six lay-ups and five foul shots.
The Aggies responded with four quick points to tie the score at 70. Pammer answered with a lay-up and Coleman hit a short jumper in the lane with 3:32 to go to push the lead back to four points (75-71).
A free throw from Arnold made it a three-point game before Hash finished on a left-handed flip in the lane with 1:57 to go and Bryan had a huge block on the other end giving possession back to the Bulldogs with 1:23 remaining.
From there DeSales iced the win at the line hitting 7-for-10 from the charity stripe over the final 83 seconds to hand the Aggies their first conference loss of the season.
DSU finished the game shooting 51.0 percent from the field and dominated the glass out-rebounding the Aggies, 41-25. The Aggies shot 16-for-27 from three-point land (59.3 percent) but just 9-for-31 (29.0 percent) from inside the arc.
The Bulldogs continue on the road traveling to Misericordia University on Wednesday in Freedom Conference action beginning at 8:00 pm.
