Center Valley, PA (February 24, 2014) – The DeSales University men's basketball team begins post-season play on Wednesday as the top seed yet again hosting the #4 seed Manhattanville College in Freedom Conference Tournament semifinals at 7:00 pm in Billera Hall with the Bulldogs looking to win their third Freedom Conference championship and first since the 2009-10 season.
DSU enters with a 16-9 overall record and a 10-4 mark in the Freedom Conference this season. They are the top seed for the seventh time in its 12 career Freedom Conference playoff appearances. DeSales entered the year ranked first among all NCAA Division III teams in the Mid-Atlantic Region in wins over the last 11 years with 232.
Admission for the event will be $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for senior citizens, and $2.00 for students w/ID. All children under the age of six are FREE and all DeSales students who have a valid ID will be admitted for FREE.

DeSales/Manhattanville Series:
DeSales owns an 11-4 lead in the all-time series between the two teams. The two squads split the season series with the road team winning each time. This will be the second career meeting in the Freedom post-season with the last coming in the title game during the 2008-09 season, a 72-58 win giving the Bulldogs its first-ever Freedom Conference championship. DSU is 6-2 vs. the Valiants at home all-time.
Regular Season Series
Game One at DeSales (MVC Won – 72-59)
Junior
Connor Quigley exploded for a career-high 25 points, hitting six three-pointers to lead the Valiants in the win. MVC shot 11-of-18 from three-point land as a team. Senior
Mike Coleman led the Bulldogs with 24 points, including the 1,000th of his career and senior
Kyle Hash had 10 points. Overall Manhattanville shot 55.1 percent as a team and 60.9 percent in the second-half in the win. DSU hit just 35.6 percent from the field in the loss.
Game Two at Manhattanville (DSU Won – 87-78)
Almost a carbon copy of the first game with the roles reversed as DSU shot 56.5 percent from the field as a team and MVC hit just 40.3 percent as the Bulldogs never trailed in the game. DeSales hit 10-of-20 from three-point land. Five players reached double digits including seniors
Paul Pammer (20 pts.),
Mike Coleman (18),
Kyle Hash (12), and
Cory Schmidt (10).
Anthony Maestre and
Jack Bramswig each had 18 points to lead the Valiants.
DeSales in the Freedom Playoffs:
DeSales is making its 12th appearance in the Freedom Conference playoffs. The Bulldogs have won two Freedom Conference Championships (2008-09 and 2009-10) and have reached the Freedom Conference title game in each of their last seven playoff appearances. Overall DeSales has a 10-9 career mark in the Freedom Conference post-season and are 9-5 at home in the conference post-season.
Manhattanville in the Freedom Playoffs:
Manhattanville is making its third appearance in the Freedom Conference post-season since joining the conference seven years ago. MVC's other two appearances came in 2008 and 2009, reaching the Tournament Championship game in 2009 vs. the Bulldogs. Overall, the Valiants are 1-2 in the Freedom Conference post-season.

The Bulldogs enter the post-season having 16+ games in 13 of the last 14 seasons…DSU has seven seniors on the team including
Mike Coleman and
Kyle Hash who lead the team in scoring as the lone double digit scorers averaging 15.1 and 13.0 points per game…Hash is also the team's top rebounder (5.1 RPG), leads in assists (2.2 APG), and also in steals with 22…sophomore
Cody Deal (9.3 PPG) and senior
Paul Pammer (9.0 PPG) are just below double digits in the scoring column…DSU leads the Freedom Conference in four different team statistical categories including field goal percentage (45.2), free throw shooting percentage (75.9), field goal percentage defense (41.7), and rebounding margin (+6.7)…DeSales has flourished at the free throw line all season making more free throws (462) than the opposition has attempted (453)…entering play on Saturday the Bulldogs were ranked 12th in the country in free throw shooting percentage and 21st in free throws made...seven different players have made 10+ three's on the season for DeSales including Deal (40), Hash (24), Pammer (24), freshman

About the Valiants:
Manhattanville enters the post-season having posted an 11-14 overall record and a 7-7 mark in the Freedom Conference…MVC finished the regular season in a three-way tie for fourth place with King's College and Delaware Valley College but earned the tiebreaker and thus the #4 seed in the Freedom Conference Tournament…the Valiants have lost four of their last five games entering play on Wednesday…three players average double digits for Manhattanville including senior
Jack Bramswig (15.6 PPG), sophomore
Anthony Maestre (15.6 PPG), and senior
Colin Campbell (12.3 PPG)…Bramswig also leads MVC in rebounding (8.2 RPG) and has team-highs of 55 steals and 39 blocked shots, while Campbell is averaging a team-high 3.4 assists per game…MVC leads the Freedom Conference in three-point shooting percentage defense allowing the opposition to shoot just 32.3 percent from beyond the arc, while also ranking second as a team in assists per game and steals per game.
