Center Valley, PA (February 26, 2014) – Seniors Kyle Hash and Mike Coleman combined for 40 points leading the DeSales University men's basketball team past Manhattanville College, 77-68, in the semifinals of the Freedom Conference Tournament on Wednesday evening in Billera Hall.

The Bulldogs (17-9 overall) have now won eight straight semifinal games and advance to the Freedom Conference championship game for the seventh time in the last eight years.  DSU will take on Misericordia University, an 80-74 winner over FDU-Florham in the other semifinal on Wednesday night.  Game time for the championship game will be 3:00 pm in Billera Hall.

Hash led DeSales with a career-high 25 points and added five rebounds, while Coleman finished with 15 points and also grabbed five boards.  Sophomore Cody Deal, junior Travis Bryan, and junior Michael Guldin each added eight points in the win.  Bryan also pulled down nine boards.

Senior Jack Bramswig finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds, Colin Campbell had 16 points and eight assists, Juan Camacho totaled 15 points, and Anthony Maestre netted 14 points for the Valiants in the loss.

MVC (11-15 overall) controlled play early leading 7-2 out of the gates and still led by five (11-6) five minutes into the game before Hash entered the game off the bench and scored 10 straight points to tie the score at 16.

The game went back and forth over the next several minutes featuring six total ties with the last coming at 24-all before a quick 6-0 pushed DSU ahead, 30-24, with 3:17 left in the half.  The Valiants chipped away and kept it tight as Campbell sliced thru the Bulldogs defense, dribbling the length of the court in 4.3 seconds, hitting a lay-up as time expired making it a 32-30 game at the break in favor of DeSales.

The start of the second stanza saw the two teams exchange basket for basket until the Bulldogs took control at the 15 minute mark when freshman Brian Laird ignited a 12-2 run with a three that gave DSU a 50-37 lead at the 11:36 mark.  Hash again was the catalyst with seven of the 12 points during the spurt.

MVC slowly chipped away at the deficit and got within six points (55-49) with 7:27 left to play but the Bulldogs countered with two quick lay-ups pushing the lead back to double digits and the Valiants never got any closer than seven points the rest of the way.

The Bulldogs shot 50.0 percent from the field and hit 21-of-23 from the charity stripe (91.3%).  DSU controlled the glass, out-rebounding Manhattanville, 34-28, and committed just 12 turnovers for the game.  DeSales had a huge 32-5 advantage in bench scoring, led mostly by Hash's 25 points.
