Center Valley, PA (February 28, 2014) – The top seeded Bulldogs are one win away from earning their third Freedom Conference Championship as they host #2 seed Misericordia University on Saturday in Billera Hall beginning at 3:00 pm in the title game.
DSU enters with a 17-9 overall record and a 10-4 mark in the Freedom Conference this season. They are the top seed for the seventh time in its 12 career Freedom Conference playoff appearances. DeSales entered the year ranked first among all NCAA Division III teams in the Mid-Atlantic Region in wins over the last 11 years with 232.
Admission for the event will be $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for senior citizens, and $2.00 for students w/ID. All children under the age of six are FREE and all DeSales students who have a valid ID will be admitted for FREE.

DeSales/Misericordia Series:
DeSales owns a 24-12 lead in the all-time series between the two teams. The two squads split the season series with the home team winning each time. This will be the sixth career post-season meeting between the two squads with DSU owning a 4-1 mark in the first five meetings. It is the third career meeting in the Freedom Conference playoffs. DSU has won the previous two coming in the championship game in 2010 and the semifinal round in 2011. DSU is 17-3 vs. the Cougars at home all-time.
Regular Season Series
Game One at Misericordia (MU Won – 57-56)
MU erased a five-point deficit late to earn the one-point win. DSU had the final possession with a chance to win the game but turned the ball over as the Cougars ran out the clock on the inbounds pass. Sophomore

Kyle Hash had 12 points. The Cougars were led by senior
Matt Greene with 16 points and freshman
Erik Kerns with 10 points.
Game Two at DeSales (DSU Won – 68-60)
The game featured six ties and 10 lead changes before sophomore
Cody Deal hit two three-pointers over the final two minutes and senior
Mike Coleman sealed the win from the line to give DSU the win. DeSales had five players in double digits including senior
Kyle Hash with 15 points, Deal with 12, freshman
Brian Laird with 11, Coleman with 11, and junior
Travis Bryan had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Junior
Steve Ware led MU with 20 points, while
Joe Busacca added 16 points and
Erik Kerns finished with 12.
DeSales in the Freedom Playoffs:
DeSales is making its 12th appearance in the Freedom Conference playoffs. The Bulldogs have won two Freedom Conference Championships (2008-09 and 2009-10) and have reached the Freedom Conference title game in each of their last eight playoff appearances including this year. Overall DeSales has an 11-9 career mark in the Freedom Conference post-season and are 10-5 at home in the conference post-season.
Misericordia in the Freedom Playoffs:
Misericordia is making its fifth straight appearance in the Freedom Conference Tournament after joining the conference six years ago. MU has won one Freedom Conference Championship (2012) and have reached the Freedom Conference title game three times (including this year). The Cougars are 4-3 all-time in the Freedom post-season.

The Bulldogs enter today's game with a 17-9 overall record and as the top seed in the Freedom Conference Tournament...DSU has now won 16+ games in 13 of the last 14 seasons...DeSales advanced to the title game for the seventh time in the last eight years with a 77-68 win over Manhattanville College on Wednesday...seniors

Mike Coleman (15) combined for 40 of DSU's 70 points in the win...Hash and Coleman are two of seven seniors on the Bulldogs and are the only two double digit scorers averaging 15.1 points and 13.4 points per game...Each was honored on Friday with Coleman being named the Freedom Conference Player of the Year and to the All-Freedom Conference First-Team, the seventh time a DSU player has been named the POTYear, and Hash was honored on the All-Freedom Conference Second-Team...in addition to being second on the team in scoring Hash is the team's leading rebounder (5.1 RPG), leads in assists (1.2 APG), and also in steals (0.8 SPG)...sophomore

Paul Pammer (8.9 PPG) are just below double digits in the scoring column…DSU leads the Freedom Conference in four different team statistical categories including field goal percentage (45.4), free throw shooting percentage (76.4), field goal percentage defense (42.0), and rebounding margin (+6.7)…DeSales has flourished at the free throw line all season making more free throws (483) than the opposition has attempted (464)…entering play on Wednesday the Bulldogs were ranked 20th in the country in free throw shooting percentage and 24th in free throws made...eight different players have made 10+ three's on the season for DeSales including Deal (40), Hash (26), freshman
