Softball Swept on Day Three of Spring Trip

Clermont, FL (March 4, 2015) – After a day off on Tuesday the DeSales University softball team dropped two games in its return to action on Wednesday afternoon, falling to Bellevue University, 8-0, and Judson University, 9-1, at the National Training Center Softball Complex.
 
Game One (L/0-8 vs. Bellevue)
Bellevue (3-6) broke open a close game in the fourth inning scoring two runs in the fourth and added five runs in the fifth to take an 8-0 lead that was the final tally thru five innings.
 
DSU (1-5) managed just three hits in the game, singles by junior Michelle Gessner, junior Emily Hockman, and sophomore Alexa Beaumont.  Freshman Andrea Artesani suffered the loss, lasting four innings allowing five hits and three runs.
 
Game Two (L/1-9 vs. Judson)
DSU took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when senior Carly Bartholomew perfectly executed a double steal scampering home after Artesani stole second base drawing a throw.
 
Judson exploded for five runs in the bottom of third inning to take a 5-1 lead and ended the game in the bottom of the fifth scoring four more times to take an eight-run lead.
 
The Bulldogs had just four hits in the loss including a double by Hockman.  Junior DJ McCauley suffered the loss allowing five hits and five runs over four innings.
 
DeSales wraps up its schedule in Florida tomorrow when they take on John Carroll University and Johnson & Wales.
