Center Valley, PA (February 20, 2019) - The DeSales University men's and women's basketball teams will host a MAC Freedom postseason tournament semifinal doubleheader on Thursday evening as the top seeded Bulldog women welcome King's College at 6:00 pm and the top seeded men will follow hosting Delaware Valley University at 8:00 pm.
Women's Game Preview
The #12/16 Bulldogs (23-2, 14-0 MAC Freedom) won the MAC Freedom regular season championship with a perfect regular season record in the MAC Freedom and will host the fourth seeded King's College Monarchs (12-13, 6-8 MAC Freedom).
Game time is set for 6:00 pm and admission for the event will be $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for senior citizens, and $2.00 for students' w/ID. All children under the age of six are FREE. All DeSales students will be admitted FREE of charge with their student ID.

DeSales/King's History:
These two teams have a long history and will be meeting for the 68
th time on Wednesday evening. DSU owns a 41-27 lead in the all-time series after DeSales swept the season series. It will also be the 11
th career meeting in the MAC Freedom postseason with the series tied at five wins each. DeSales is 23-11 all-time vs. the Monarchs at home.
Regular Season Series
Game One at DeSales (DSU – 84-43)
DeSales stormed out to a 43-16 halftime lead and never looked back in the second-half. DSU held the Monarchs to just 23.0% shooting and shot 43.2 percent from the field. Four players were in double digits for the Bulldogs including senior
Morgan Birmelin with 18 points, senior
Leandra Sterner with 15 points, freshman
Rylie Rittenhouse with 12 points, and freshman
Samantha Shinkus added 10 points. Senior
Bridget Walsh finished with a game-high 14 rebounds in the win.
Game Two at King's (DSU – 79-62)
DeSales had a 19-0 second quarter run and led by as many as 34 points in the second-half. King's made a late rally and hit 11 three-pointers in the game to close the gap in the second-half before the final tally was posted. Freshman
Averi Jordan and Shinkus each had double-doubles with Jordan totaling 21 points and 10 rebounds and Shinkus finishing with 21 points and 11 boards. Birmelin finished with 10 points and eight assists in the win.
DeSales in the MAC Freedom Postseason:
DeSales is making its 22nd straight MAC Freedom Tournament appearance. DSU joined the MAC Freedom at the start of the 1997-98 season and hasn't missed the post-season. The Bulldogs have won six conference titles and are 22-15 all-time in the MAC Freedom postseason.

Game One at Delaware Valley (DSU – 86-74)
DeSales shot 50.0 percent from field and held the Aggies to just 31.6 percent shooting to earn the win. A two-point halftime lead was extended to double digits early in the second-half and Delaware Valley never got any closer than six points in the second-half. Sophomore
Matt Kachelries finished with 14 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists in the win. Junior
Tracy Simsick had 23 points, junior
Alex House added 16 points, freshman
Keba Mitchelle finshed with 12 points and senior
Luke Connaghan had 11 points.
Game Two at DeSales (DSU – 73-61)
The second matchup of the season featured seven ties and eight lead changes and saw DeSales extend a five point lead late into a 10-point advantage with less than five minutes left and the Bulldogs hung on from there. Sophomore
Timmy Edwards scored a career-high 24 points in the win, shooting 11-of-12 from the field, and Connaghan had 13 points. Simsick handed out a career-high seven assists.

DeSales is making its 17th MAC Freedom Tournament appearance and are in the postseason for the seventh straight year. The Bulldogs have won three conference titles and are 14-13 all-time in the MAC Freedom postseason.
