Question and Answer
1 - Favorite sport memory on the field or off over the past four years?
  • I don't necessarily have one favorite moment. It's all the times I got to share the podium with my teammates and all the trips we took together.
2 - One thing you'd like to tell all of your underclassmen teammates and/or future DeSales student-athletes?
  • Something that I would tell an underclassman is to enjoy every moment that you have because before you know it, it's all over.  Also, that all students that decide to bring athletics into their lives and become a student-athlete are truly special people.  It is not an easy thing to balance both the physical grind of athletics and the mental grind of school for four years.
3 - Post-graduate plans?
  • As of right now I am trying to see how things play out during the coronavirus pandemic but I am considering forgoing graduation to come back next spring to try and help bring an Outdoor Track and Field Championship to DeSales.
4- What made DeSales the place to be for you?
  • I think the size of the school and the culture is something that brought me to DeSales.  The moment I came to DeSales I felt like I belonged and that has a lot to do with my XC/Track and Field family.
From his teammates
"A true team leader, runner, and friend who is always late to practice but always gives it his all, even when it is too much and he should really slow down before he ends up killing me on an easy day. If he doesn't come back next year I'll really miss him and his presence within the hot corner. Stay gold Ponyboy"

"Despite all his injuries, Nick Cauley always fought back and was able to contribute to the team whenever he was called on. In Cross Country and all the relays, he always showed up when we needed him most. He contributed to multiple MAC winning relays because he cared about helping the team as much as he possibly could. His grit and determination were unmatched and he will be missed."

From Coach Weiner
"Without a doubt Nick is one of the hardest workers we have ever had on our program. He had always done phenomenal at practices and then was average at meets until last year. He put it all together and dropped times like we knew he was capable. Always did what was asked of him and always wanted to do more. Not many athletes around as dedicated as him.  Always the last one to leave practice. This season was going to be exceptional, but he is still leaving the program ranked in our top 5 in May events."
