DeSales Men Earn MAC Sportsmanship Award

| By:
Annville, PA (May 18, 2023) - The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) announced its 2022-23 MAC Institutional Sportsmanship Awards on Thursday morning with the DeSales men taking home the MAC Freedom honor in men's sports for the 2022-23 athletic year.

The MAC Institutional Sportsmanship Award was created to reward the outstanding overall sportsmanship at MAC institutions. The award began during the 2001-02 academic year. The award is voted on by the individual institutions' coaches, and is presented to a male and female athletic program in the MAC Commonwealth and MAC Freedom. The first year of the award was given to just one male and one female athletic program.

DeSales has taken home this honor 17 times since its inception with the men winning it nine times and the women winning it eight. That is the second most among all MAC schools trailing only Messiah University.

In addition the MAC recognizes one student-athlete from each team in each sport on its MAC All-Sportsmanship Team. These are student-athletes that exemplify great character and display exceptional sportsmanship both on and off the field. They represent their team, institution and the conference with high integrity, and exhibit respect for themselves, teammates, coaches and opponents. They are humble and hold themselves with pride, competing at the same level of intensity no matter who the competition is, or outcome of the contest. These student-athletes were selected by the head coaches and student-athletes from their respective teams.
