Women's Basketball Selected Fourth in MAC Freedom Preseason Polls

ANNVILLE, PA (Oct. 23, 2025) -- The DeSales University women's basketball team has been picked fourth overall in the MAC Freedom Preseason Poll as voted on by the eight MAC Freedom coaches and as released by the conference office on Thursday morning.

DeSales totaled 35 points, just two below Lebanon Valley College, who received 37 points and two first-place votes, placing them in third place. Coming in first is Stevens, totaling 45 points and four first-place votes. Behind Stevens in second place is Arcadia with 43 points and two first-place votes.

DeSales is coming off of a 16-11 season, going 8-6 in MAC Freedom play. Last season, the Bulldogs advanced to the MAC Freedom title game, where they fell to Stevens.

DeSales returns all but one player from last seasons team including senior Mikaili Donmoyer who led the Bulldogs in scoring at 12.9 points per game. She was also named to the All-MAC Freedom Second-Team and CSC Academic All-District.

Also returning are senior Lindsay Bednarek (6.3 PPG, 11 starts), sophomore Aubrey Pollard (6.0 PPG, 4 starts), sophomore Kayla Ishigami (5.4 PPG, 2 starts), senior Sammi White (5.0 PPG, 27 starts), and sophomore Marissa LaVerghetta (4.4 PPG, 22 starts).

Head Coach Fred Richter will be entering his 36th season as one of the most successful coaches in the country with a career record of 681-265 (.720). Richter enters the 2025-26 season ranked 19th all-time in wins among NCAA Division III coaches and ninth in active NCAA Division III coaches in wins.

DeSales will open the season at the Susquehanna University tip-off tournament taking on Gettysburg College on Saturday, November 8th. The home season begins on November 15th when the Bulldogs take on Saint Vincent College. MAC Freedom conference play will begin on Wednesday, January 7th against FDU Florham at home.
