Ellie Kozich placed fourth individually leading the DeSales University women's cross country team to a 12th place finish at the NCAA Division III Metro Region Championships on Saturday at Dreams Park.
Kozich placed fourth for the second straight year, finishing the 8K course in a time of 21:21.3. She earns a spot at the NCAA Division III National Championships next weekend with the fourth place finish for the second straight year. She also earns All-Region honors finishing among the top 35 runners.
It is the 12th time DeSales is sending a runner to the NCAA Division III National Championships as an individual runner and its the fourth person to earn a spot at Nationals as an individual more than once joining,
Beth Dauer,
Gina Lucrezi, and
Veronica Wheeler.
The 12th place team finish equals the finish for the Bulldogs last season.
First-year
Hannah Miller was second across the finish line for DSU in 62nd place in a time of 24:08.2. FIrst-year
Emily Harrington crossed in 77th place in a time of 24:37.1.
Rounding out DSU's top five were first-year
Elizabeth George in 101st place in a time of 25:17.4 and first-year
Angela Crowley in 107th place in a time of 25:35.3.
DSU's top five consisted of one sophomore and four first-year students.
The National Championship race will be next Saturday in Spartanburg, SC.
