Birmingham, AL (March 13, 2026) - Sophomore
Ellie Kozich earned All-American honors taking home sixth place in the 5,000-meters competing at the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships on Friday evening at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Kozich got off to a quick start leading the pack for the first several laps before falling back to the middle of the pack during the middle laps. She had a good kick late that enabled her to finish sixth in a time of 16:52.27, just .12 tenths of a second ahead of seventh place, to earn All-American honors.
It marked the seventh time a DeSales student-athlete had qualified for the Indoor National Championships in school history. She becomes the sixth indoor All-American and the first since
Veronica Wheeler in 2018, when she placed eighth in the 5K.
