Doylestown, PA (March 29, 2008) – The DeSales University softball team suffered a late game loss in game one but answered with a late rally in the second game to salvage a split with Delaware Valley College in a Freedom Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
In game one, DSU (9-5, 1-1 Freedom) took an early 2-0 lead and continued to lead 3-2 entering the bottom of the sixth inning before the Aggies (3-7, 1-1 Freedom) rallied for two runs in the inning to take a 4-3 lead and retired the Bulldogs in the seventh for the win.
Lococo suffered the loss for the Bulldogs despite pitching well allowing just four hits and three earned runs over six innings while striking out five.
In the second game, the Bulldogs did the rallying erasing a 6-2 deficit with three runs in the third inning, two tallies in the fifth inning and one in the seventh inning for an 8-6 win.
Junior Jamie Pfitzenmayer (Annandale, NJ/Hunterdon Central) went 2-for-4 with two RBI's in the game two win to lead the offensive attack. Moran and sophomore Kerri Andrews (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) also had RBI's as eight different players scored in the win.
Freshman Larissa Tenley (Sinking Spring, PA/Conrad Weiser) earned the win in relief as she tossed seven innings allowing just one earned run and six hits.
DSU returns to action on Sunday, March 30th when they host FDU-Florham in another Freedom Conference doubleheader beginning at Noon.
