Junior Trio Leads Field Hockey Past Immaculata, 3-0

Junior Kelsey Strowhouer had one goal and one assist in the win on Thursday.

Center Valley, PA (October 8, 2009) – The DeSales University field hockey team got goals from three juniors as the Bulldogs won their third straight game, 3-0, over Immaculata University in a non-conference game on Thursday afternoon.

The Bulldogs improve to 5-7 overall with the win, while Immaculata falls to 3-7 overall. DSU had a 20-7 advantage in shots and a 12-5 edge in penalty corners in the win. Freshman Victoria DelToro (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) made one save in the win to record her second shutout of the season.

Junior Jamie Matthews (Gilbertsville, PA/Boyertown) started the scoring with her sixth goal of the season, an unassisted tally just 1:02 into the game, giving DSU a 1-0 lead. Junior Amy Pulcini (Easton, PA/Easton) made it a two-goal game at the 23:31 mark when she scored her fourth tally of the year off an assist from junior Kelsey Strowhouer (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) and Strowhouer got into the scoring act just 4:09 later, depositing her third of the year, unassisted to provide the final score.

DeSales returns to action and to Freedom Conference play on Saturday, October 10th when they travel to Wilkes University for a Freedom Conference game beginning at Noon.
