Annville, PA (March 20, 2011) – The DeSales University softball team returned to action on Sunday afternoon following its spring break trip to Florida last week, dropping both ends of a doubleheader at Lebanon Valley College, 4-2 and 3-0, in non-conference action.

In the doubleheader opener, LVC (9-4) scored twice in the first inning and once in the third and fifth to open up a 4-0 lead before freshman Laura Pironi hit a two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning plating senior Jen Lococo to get the Bulldogs (4-4) on the board. It was Pironi's third homer of the year.

Sophomore Katie Morrissey took the loss allowing just four hits and three earned runs over five innings, striking out three. Lococo had three of DSU's six hits and fellow senior Kristin Schultz had two hits.

In the second game, LVC scored solo runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings as Kristen Palmerio tossed a five-hit shutout to lift the Flying Dutchmen past the Bulldogs. Lococo took the loss in the circle, allowing seven hits and just one earned run over 5.1 innings. Lococo also had two more hits in the Bulldogs' five hit attack.

The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday afternoon when they travel to Montclair State University for another non-conference doubleheader beginning at 3:00 pm.
