Reading, PA (April 7, 2011) – Senior
Jen Lococo tossed a complete-game allowing just four hits and added two hits and two runs scored at the plate in game helping the DeSales University softball team split a doubleheader with Alvernia University in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (9-7 overall) took game one, 4-2, scoring twice in the seventh inning to earn the win, before Alvernia (12-4) rebounded to take game two, 2-0.
In the opener, Lococo allowed just four hits and one earned run, striking out six, to earn her third win of the season. She along with senior
Kate Steiner, sophomore
Julie Brugger, and freshman
Cassie Wagman each had two hits in the first game. Junior
Shelly McCarthy had two RBIs and Steiner and Wagman also knocked in a run in the opener.
In the second game the Bulldogs bats were held in check as
Michelle Jensen tossed a three-hit shutout at DeSales, striking out three. The game was scoreless into the bottom of the sixth inning when the Crusaders scored two unearned runs to earn the win.

Christine Petrilla took the loss allowing four hits and striking out three. McCarthy, freshman
Courtney McKenna, and senior
Sharon Yudt had DSU's three hits.
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday when they travel to Wilkes University for a Freedom Conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
