Reading, PA (May 14, 2011) – Junior Katie Morrissey tossed a four-hit shutout leading the third seeded DeSales University softball team past Misericordia University, 2-0, in the quarterfinals of the ECAC South Region Softball Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Angelica Park.

The win moves the Bulldogs (25-13) into the tournament's championship game on Sunday afternoon beginning at Noon, where as Misericordia will play the winner of the Alvernia/Wilson game on Sunday morning at 10:00 am.

DSU scored the only two runs it would need in the bottom of the fourth inning on an RBI double from junior Christine Petrilla and an RBI single from freshman Courtney McKenna plating senior Jen Lococo and Petrilla.

Morrissey allowed just four hits and struck out four, recording her third shutout of the season. She pitched out of a bases loaded, two-out jam in the first and only allowed one runner to reach second base over the final six innings, earning her ninth win of the season.

Petrilla finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored to lead the offensive attack making her 5-for-7 for the day in the two games.
