Center Valley, PA (April 12, 2012) – Senior Katie Morrissey struck out 11 batters in game two but the DeSales University offense just couldn't get going on Thursday afternoon, scoring just one run in two games, as Eastern University swept the Freedom Conference doubleheader by scores of 4-0 and 3-1 to move into a tie for third place in the conference standings.

EU's (16-11-1, 5-3 Freedom) Janelle Fair was the story all day, tossing two complete-game wins, totaling just 125 pitches over the two games, only 25 of which were balls.  Fair did not walk a batter and struck out six, while allowing just nine hits over the two games.

In the first game, EU scored once in the third inning and added three more in the top of the seventh as Fair limited DSU to just three hits, two by freshman Taylor Kelly, blanking the Bulldogs, 4-0.  Senior Brianna Chilcoat had the Bulldogs third hit in the loss.

Senior Christine Petrilla pitched well, allowing just four hits, but walked four in allowing four runs over 6.1 innings.

In the second game, Morrissey tossed her first complete-game of the year, fanning 11 and allowing three runs over seven innings.  She got in trouble in the third inning, walking three batters and allowing all three runs in the loss.  Morrissey now has 386 career strikeouts, moving her just 14 K's shy of becoming the second player in school history to strike out 400+ batters in a career.

Chilcoat had two more hits in game two and freshman Emily Artz accounted for the lone run, a solo home run to lead-off the fifth inning, her first career round tripper.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, April 14th when they travel to Misericordia University for a very important Freedom Conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
