Center Valley, PA (April 9, 2012) – Junior Brittany Wilson and senior Katie Morrissey each pitched three scoreless innings of relief, earning a win and a save, and leading the DeSales University softball team to a sweep of Widener University, 9-4 and 5-2, in a non-conference doubleheader on Monday afternoon.

In the first game, DeSales (9-15) erased a 4-2 deficit in the sixth inning by scoring seven runs, including a two-run home run from freshman Carly Bartholomew to cap off the inning and B. Wilson did the rest, pitching three scoreless innings in relief of senior Christine Petrilla to earn her second win of the year.  Wilson allowed just one hit and struck out two.

DSU totaled 12 hits in the game one win as eight of the nine starters each had at least one hit.  Bartholomew finished with three hits and three RBIs, freshman Taylor Kelly scored twice and had an RBI, and freshman Ericka Esposito also had two hits and an RBI in the win.

In the second game, DSU took a 5-0 lead after four innings and senior Katie Morrissey entered in the fifth inning to thwart a Pride (15-11) rally, earning her first save of the season, tossing three scoreless frames allowing one hit and striking out five.

Freshman Shelby Wilson had a two-RBI hit in the first inning, junior Julie Brugger had an RBI hit in the third inning, and freshman Kayla Adanalian had a two-RBI hit in the fourth inning to account for DSU's runs.  S. Wilson finished with two of DeSales' seven hits in game two.

Freshman Rachel Vogel earned the win in the circle, her second career victory, pitching four innings allowing four hits and two runs.

The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday when they return to Freedom Conference play hosting Eastern University in a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 pm.
