Chester, PA (January 19, 2013) – The DeSales University women's track & field team opened up competition to begin the second semester edging Widener University, 68-56, in a dual meet hosted by the Pride on Saturday morning.
Points were awarded to the top four competitors in each event as the two teams used the meet to warm-up for the remainder of the season.
Junior
Katlyn Diffenderfer won the 55-meter dash (7.95) and freshman
Taylor DelMonte finished third (8.50). Sophomore
Amanda Miller (1:04.79) and sophomore
Michelle Churchman (1:09.06) took home second and third in the 400-meter dash, while junior
Kate Little (2:46.46) and junior
Sarah Braun (2:46.59) were third and fourth in the 800-meter run.
In the one mile run, junior
Cara Guth (6:00.82) was second and freshman
Jessica Curry (6:06.55) was third and that combination also took first (Guth – 11:57.19) and third (Curry – 12:04.34) in the 3000-meter run.
In the field events junior
Chelsey Schmidt was first in the pole vault (9-02.25) and freshman
Genna Borowski was fourth (7-08.50), while junior
Erinne Schmalzer was first in the shot put (36-07.75) and first in the weight throw (40-06.00), freshman
Meghan Warner was third in the shot put (23-08.00) and junior
AnnMarie Consiglio was second in the weight throw (30-05.75).
The Bulldogs return to action on Friday, January 25th when they travel to the Muhlenberg College Invitational.
