Wilkes-Barre, PA (March 22, 2014) – Freshman
Alexa Beaumont went 5-for-8 with five RBIs, including a three-run home run in game one, leading the DeSales University softball team past King's College, 3-2 and 10-2, in a Freedom Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
In the opener, Beaumont accounted for all three Bulldog runs hitting a three-run home run, the first of her career, in the top of the third inning and sophomore
DJ McCauley did the rest limiting the Lady Monarchs to just six hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out six.
Beaumont finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBIs as the Bulldogs had six hits in the first game.
In the second game, DSU exploded for 10 runs over the first four innings and junior
Rachel Vogel improved to 3-0 on the year pitching a five-inning complete-game allowing just five hits and two earned runs.
DSU got two runs in the first on an RBI double from Beaumont and an RBI single from McCauley, one more in the second on an RBI groundout from sophomore
Michelle Gessner, and four in the third on an RBI single from junior
Kayla Adanalian and a three-RBI double from junior
Taylor Kelly.
The Bulldogs also scored three runs in the fourth inning on a two-run home run from junior
Carly Bartholomew and an RBI single from Beaumont.
Beaumont finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs, sophomore
Samantha Gibson and two hits, Bartholomew finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, and Adanalian added two hits and two runs scored.
The Bulldogs return to action on Sunday when they travel to Kean University for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at Noon.
