Question and Answer
1 - Favorite sport memory on the field or off over the past four years?
- MAC championships are always my favorite meets to compete in. I love the energy of the meet and it's always fun to watch everyone's hard work pay off.
2 - One thing you'd like to tell all of your underclassmen teammates and/or future DeSales student-athletes?
- Treat every season, meet and practice like it could be your last one and always give everything you do your full effort. You never know what the future holds or how plans may change. Always be grateful for the opportunities that you were able to have.
3 - Post-graduate plans?
- I am going to be a Labor and Delivery nurse at LVHN.
4- What made DeSales the place to be for you?
- The people I have met at DeSales have made it feel like my home away from home. The DeSales community is a really kind and a great group of people that have made my college experience so memorable.
From her teammates
"Her positive attitude was contagious. She gave her all to this sport and was one of the most encouraging teammates for everyone on the team."
"A true leader on the team. She is someone who makes such an effort to build that cohesion and unite the different events. It's so easy to just cheer on the athletes in your event, but seeing a jumper cheer on throwers, distance runners, sprinters, it's a really neat thing."
"Caelee has always been someone you can go to and give you a boost of confidence before any event you are about to go do. She has helped many of us get out of our own heads and relieve our nerves before a big race, jump, or throw. She has worked so hard and been a supporter to all of us. Caelee has left such a positive vibe on this team and I know we will all miss her a lot!"
"Caelee Sorto has been such a great friend, teammate and leader since I met her. She is kind, loving, and has the ability to bring everyone on the team together, regardless of event or year. Her talent in the jumps never ceases to amaze me, yet she is humble through it all. So glad DeSales gave me a friend like you Caelee, I can't wait to see how you will change the world."
"Even though Caelee spent most of her time at jumps practices, she always made sprinting practice fun with her personality, kindness and encouragement especially at track meets. Never doubt yourself we are all capable of doing amazing things."
From Coach Hornig
"Caelee was the lone true senior on the team this year. Although she did not get many opportunities to compete this winter due to her Nursing schedule, she did qualify and complete at the MAC Indoor championships in both the long jump and triple jump. In fact, her plan was to practice thru the winter season as she fulfilled her nursing practicum requirements with the plan to make her final spring track season a memorable one. As we all know her plan was sidetracked by the suspension of the spring season. Caelee is well prepared for the nursing world and frankly, we will need her services. She is considering graduate school and just maybe, we will see her leaping one final time off the jumping boards next spring. But if not, she leaves DeSales as one of the best jumpers in school history, ranking among the top 3 in both the long and triple jump events."
