Glassboro, NJ (November 11, 2023) - Senior
Shane Artis took home second place individually leading the DeSales University men's cross country team to its best finish in school history, fifth place, at the NCAA Division III Metro Region Championships hosted by Rowan University at Dream Park.
The Bulldogs took fifth, one spot better than last season's sixth place, out of 25 complete teams. Artis punched a ticket to the NCAA Division III National Championships for the second straight year leading the team by setting a personal best and setting the school record in the 8K with a time of
24:56.5, finishing second overall.
Three other Bulldogs also received All-Region honors for finishing among the top 35 athletes. Senior
Nick Manidis set a huge personal best in the final race of his career, finishing 13
th overall in a time of
25:23.0. Sophomore
Davis Trump finished right behind in 14
th place, also setting a personal best with a time of
25:26.5. Graduate student
Matt Santacoloma rounded out the Bulldogs receiving All-Region honors in his final race, running a
25:38.9, which was good for 23
rd overall.

Brian Bruno was the fifth scorer for the Bulldogs, finishing his cross country career with a time of
26:21.3 and a 49
th place finish. First-year
Joey Wilson finished sixth for the team, finishing 56
th overall in a time of
26:37.1. Senior
Dean Ricco rounded out the team in his final race, finishing 66
th overall with a time
26:51.4.
This race marks the end of an incredible season for the men's cross country team winning their second MAC Conference title and posting its best-ever finish at the Regional Championships. Artis now looks to finish strong at the National Championships next Saturday at Dickinson College while the rest of the team looks to build off their strong performances for the upcoming track & field season.
