Center Valley, PA (May 31, 2023) - Juniors Shane Artis, Nick Manidis, and Ben Phillippy, sophomore Josh Deremer, and senior Carl Tyce of the men's track & field team were all named to the CSC Men's T&F/CC Academic All-District Team as announced on Tuesday afternoon by the College Sports Communicators.

To be eligible for this honor you must be a sophomore or higher, have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or greater, and be a starter or significant reserve on your institutions team.  All five players will have their nominations forwarded to the All-America ballot to be considered for Academic All-America honors announced in late-June.

Tyce is making his second straight appearance on the Academic All-District Team. He is a biology major with a .399 cumulative GPA. He was named the MAC Senior Scholar-Athlete in both indoor and outdoor track & field. In CC, Tyce placed 20th at the MAC Championships to earn All-MAC Second-Team honors. In indoor T&F, Tyce was a member of the DMR relay that earned MAC Gold as well as the 4x800 meter relay that won MAC Gold. Individually he made it three MAC Golds overall at the MAC Indoor T&F Championships winning the 800-meters. In outdoor T&F he was a member of the 4x800 meter relay that placed second, the 4x400 meter relay that finished fifth, and finished fifth individually in the 800-meters at the MAC Outdoor Championships. He earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors in both indoor and outdoor T&F in the 800-meters.

Artis is an accounting major with a 3.64 cumulative GPA. He was sixth at the MAC CC Championships to earn All-MAC First-Team honors and placed 13th at the NCAA Metro CC Regionals to earn All-Region honors. Artis also qualified for the NCAA CC National Championships as an individual placing 251st out of 292 runners and was named to the CC Academic All-MAC Team as well as USTFCCCA All-Academic in CC. Artis earned MAC Gold twice at the MAC Indoor T&F Championships as part of the 4x800 and DMR relay teams. He also finished seventh in the mile individually. In outdoor T&F he was fourth in the 5K individually and a member of the 4x800 meter relay that finished second at the MAC Outdoor Championships.

Deremer is a supply chain management major with a 3.83 cumulative GPA. Deremer earned MAC Gold twice at the MAC Indoor T&F Championships as part of the 4x800 and DMR relay teams and also placed seventh in the 800-meters individually. In outdoor T&F he was a member of the 4x800 meter relay that placed second at the MAC Outdoor Championships.

Manidis is a chemistry major with a 3.99 cumulative GPA. In CC he was All-MAC Second-Team with a 13th place finish at the MAC CC Championships and placed 37th at the NCAA Metro Region Championships, while also earning USTFCCCA All-Academic honors in CC.

Phillippy is a supply chain management major with a 3.65 cumulative GPA. He was a member of th 4x800 meter relay team that took home MAC Gold at the MAC Indoor Championships and also placed eighth in the 800-meters individually. In outdoor T&F he was a member of the 4x800 relay team that placed second and the 4x400 meter relay that finished fifth at the MAC Outdoor Championships.
