Annville, PA (May 13th, 2024) – First-year student
Ty Akins was named the MAC Freedom Rookie of the Year highlighting six Bulldogs named to the All-MAC Freedom Team as announced by the conference office and as voted on by the eight MAC Freedom coaches on Monday morning.
Akins was named the MAC Freedom Baseball Rookie of the Year along with being named to the Second-Team. Joining him on the Second-Team was sophomore pitcher
Mike Hooker and junior
Justin DeStaso. Sophomore
JT Anderosky earned All-MAC Freedom First-Team honors. Seniors
Gavin Zavorski and
Travis Kerr earned All-MAC Honorable-Mention to round out the honorees.
Akins became the 11th Bulldog to take home MAC Freedom Rookie of the Year honors and the second straight. He had an impressive first year with the Bulldogs finishing fourth on the team with a .356 batting average. He was second on the team in RBIs (30) and totaled 47 hits.
Anderosky and Hooker each make their first appearances on the All-Conference teams.
Anderosky comes off a breakout sophomore campaign in which he started in all 41 games in the outfield for Bulldogs and led the team in almost every major offensive category. He was second the team in batting with a .404 average but led with 74 hits (tied for second most in team history), 18 doubles, 2 triples, 33 RBIs, and added 21 stolen bases.
Hooker appeared in 11 games on the mound for the Bulldogs, posting a 5-3 record to go with a 4.57 ERA. He tossed two shutouts while striking out 25 and allowing 15 walks this season.
DeStaso, Zavorski, and Kerr each earn All-Conference honors for the second time in their careers.
DeStaso finished the season batting .314 with 44 hits and 25 RBIs. He also had 9 doubles this season to go along with 10 stolen bases. Zavorski started in 31 games behind the plate and slashed .390 with 41 hits and 19 RBIs. He caught 9 runners stealing this season as well. Kerr finished the year leading the team with a .407 batting average. He also had 48 hits, one home run, and 22 RBIs.
