Men’s Track & Field Competes at Moravian University Invitational

Bethlehem, PA (January 18, 2025) - The DeSales University men's outdoor track & field team competed at the Moravian University Invitational hosted by Lehigh University to return to action in the indoor season. 

Beginning on the track in the one mile was sophomore Jozef Callano who placed 4th overall with a time of 4:32.48, earning him the MAC qualifying standard. 

There were also other notable performances for DSU in the one mile, including junior James Cook, who placed 16th overall with a time of 4:59.42. Following only a place behind, was sophomore Dylan Doskocil who took 17th, with an overall time of 5:00.05. Senior John Murphy placed 21st overall with a time of 5:12.84. 

Back to the throwers in shot-put, senior Jacob Schaeffer took 4th place with a mark of 13.55m. Junior Giovanni Wellington placed 15th with a throw of 11.98m. Both earned the MAC qualifying standard. 

Another notable performance for DeSales in the shot-put event was senior Nick Chinn who finished 24th overall with a throw of 11.20m. 

In the long jump, these next three DSU long jumpers earned the MAC qualifying standard. Sophomore Weston Simak placed 2nd with a jump of 6.56m. Sophomore Lens Demosthene took 7th overall with a jump of 6.19m. First-year Jonathan Castronovo finished 9th with a jump of 6.12m. 

An additional exceptional performance for the Bulldogs in the long jump was sophomore Javell McMichael who placed 16th overall with a jump of 5.62m. 

Switching back to the track in the 60-meter dash, sophomore Colin Marsh placed 13th overall with a time of 7.34, earning him the MAC qualifying standard. 

The Bulldogs also delivered other great performances in the 60-meter dash. Junior Tyler McCulloch placed 15th overall with a time of 7.38. Senior Sam Estherson took 17th, with a time of 7.41. First-year Jonathan Castronovo finished 22nd overall with a time of 7.49. Sophomore Weston Simak placed 30th overall with a time of 7.76. Closing out the 60-meter dash for DeSales was junior Peter Skulski who finished 35th overall with a time of 8.32. 

In the 800-meter, first-year Alex Porambo took 5th place overall with a time of 2:05.96. First-year Cale Aiken placed 10th overall with a time of 2:13.28. Sophomore Andrew Sidorski finished 12th overall with a time of 2:17.26. Junior Jordan Gallo placed 13th overall with a time of 2:18.03. 

For the 400-meter, sophomore Bryce Guthier finished in 5th place with an overall time of 53.68 earning him the MAC qualifying standard. 

Heading back to the field events, in the high jump, sophomore Trevor Keperling took 7th overall with a jump of 1.65m. 

In the triple jump, first-year Jonathan Castronovo placed 4th overall with a jump of 12.64m. 

Back to the weight throws, sophomore Cameron Williams took 2nd place overall with a throw of 14.48m. Senior Jacob Schaeffer finished in 4th place with a throw of 13.79m. Junior Jonathan Eudja placed 10th with a throw of 12.74m. Junior Giovanni Wellington took 13th place overall with a weight throw of 12.09m. All four earned the MAC qualifying standard. 

In the 3000-meter, sophomore Joey Wilson placed 11th overall with a time of 9.03.92, earning him the MAC qualifying standard. Senior Tim Connell took 17th overall with a time of 9:26.83. 

The next two Bulldogs earned the MAC qualify standard in the 5000-meter. Senior Dean Ricco took 5th place overall with a time of 15:58.92. First-year Bryce Phillips finished 7th overall with a time of 16:16.13. 

The first two Bulldogs in the 200-meter both finished with a fast enough time to earn them the MAC qualifying standard. Sophomore Colin Marsh took 5th place overall with a time of 23.39. Junior Tyler McCulloch placed 10th overall with a time of 23.94. 

More notable performances in the 200-meter were sophomore Bryce Guthier who took 13th place overall with a time of 24.24. First-year Jack Jacobson placed 19th with a time of 24.62. Sophomore Lens Demosthene finished in 25th place overall with a time of 25.06. Wrapping up the Bulldogs 200-meter was sophomore Javell McMichael who took 30th place overall with a time of 26.25. 

Closing out the meet was the 4x400 relay where DeSales took 7th place overall with a total time of 3:46.86. 

The Bulldogs will return to action next Saturday (January 25) at the Widener University Select Meet hosted by the University of Penn.
