Men's Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season at Marty Pushkin Invitational

Morgantown, WV (March 3rd, 2026) - The DeSales University men's track & field team opened up the outdoor season at the Marty Pushkin Invitational at West Virginia University on Friday and Saturday.

Beginning on the track Friday evening in the 5,000-meter was junior Joey Wilson, who took 1st place overall with a time of 15:10.13. Senior Davis Trump placed 10th with a time of 15:43.72. Both Joey and Davis earned the MAC qualifying standard for outdoors in the 5k. Sophomore Bryce Phillips finished in 20th place with a time of 16:21.12, and fellow sophomore James Viglianti placed 21st in 16:30.95. Senior James Cook finished 25th overall, crossing the line in 17:05.42. Junior Andrew Sidorski closed out the Bulldogs' 5k squad, placing 28th in 17:36.25.
 
Switching to the field events from Friday evening, in the Hammer Throw was senior Jonathan Eudja, who placed 7th with a throw of 42.99 meters. Jonathan's throw earned him the MAC qualifying standard for the outdoor Hammer Throw. First-year Ryan Rodriguez finished 11th with a mark of 34.22 meters. First-year John Amoretti placed 15th overall with a throw of 27.40 meters.
 
Continuing the throwing events in the Javelin was senior Dane Watson, who took 6th place overall with a throw of 49.31 meters. Following close behind in 8th place was first-year Brendan Miller with a mark of 46.77 meters. Both Dane and Brendan earned the MAC qualifying standard for outdoors in the Javelin. Sophomore Preston De Grazia finished 13th with a throw of 40.30 meters. Following right behind in 14th was junior Kaden Issa with a mark of 39.45 meters.
 
Kicking off the Saturday events on the track in the 1,500-meter was first-year Keegan Dube, who crossed the line in 8th place with a time of 4:07.32. Keegan's performance also earned him the MAC qualifying standard for outdoors in the 1,500. First-year Alden Twist placed 30th overall in 4:21.33. Finishing 36th with a time of 4:30.34 was first-year Brady Snyder. Senior Jordan Gallo placed 40th in 4:33.53, and fellow senior John Murphy finished 54th with a final time of 4:50.60.
 
In the 1,500-meter steeplechase, junior Joey Wilson earned 3rd place with a final time of 4:31.56. Following close behind in 4th was first-year Cody Doskocil, who crossed the finish line in 4:32.03. Both Joey and Cody earned the MAC qualifying standard for the event.
 
For the 400-meter, first-year Sean Alfaro placed 15th overall with a personal best of 52.08 seconds. Junior Bryce Guthier finished 21st in 52.52 seconds. Sophomore Cooper Stutz crossed the line in 53.31 seconds, placing 23rd. First-year Jalen King finished 37th with a time of 56.84 seconds.
 
In the 100-meter, sophomore Jonathan Castronovo finished 21st with a season-best time of 11.73 seconds. First-year Owen Wescoe placed 22nd in 11.94 seconds. Junior Weston Simak finished 30th with a time of 12.28 seconds, and sophomore Preston De Grazia placed 32nd in 12.33 seconds.
 
For the 800-meter, junior Jozef Callano earned 2nd place overall, crossing the finish line in 1:54.73. Jozef's time also earned him the MAC qualifying standard for outdoors in the 800. Sophomore Alex Porambo placed 26th in 2:03.13. First-year Jack Tavani finished 40th, running a personal best of 2:09.77.
 
In the 400-meter hurdles, sophomore Aidan Phillips crossed the line in 9th place overall with a time of 1:02.97.
 
For the 200-meter, sophomore Jack Jacobson placed 31st overall in 23.87 seconds. Right behind him in 32nd and 33rd were first-year Sean Alfaro (23.88) and junior Bryce Guthier (23.93). First-year Owen Wescoe finished 38th in 24.36 seconds. Sophomore Preston De Grazia placed 42nd with a personal best of 25.44 seconds.
 
Switching to the Saturday field events, in the Discus was first-year Ryan Rodriguez, who placed 7th overall with a throw of 36.90 meters. Ryan's throw earned him the MAC qualifying standard for outdoors in the Discus. Senior Christopher Landau finished 13th with a mark of 31.17 meters, and first-year Aidan Tonero placed 17th with a throw of 27.43 meters.
 
In the Shot Put, first-year John Amoretti earned 5th place overall with a throw of 12.41 meters. John's throw earned him the MAC qualifying standard in the event. First-year Grady Hanson placed 9th with a throw of 11.67 meters, and senior Christopher Landau finished 18th with a mark of 9.67 meters.
 
For the Long Jump, junior Weston Simak earned 2nd place overall with a jump of 6.54 meters. Sophomore Jonathan Castronovo followed close behind, finishing 4th with a mark of 6.44 meters. Both Weston and Jonathan earned the MAC qualifying standards for outdoors in the Long Jump. In the Triple Jump, senior Peter Skulski finished 11th overall with a jump of 11.28 meters.
For the Pole Vault, sophomore Jack Jacobson placed 13th overall with a vault of 3.80 meters. Jack also earned the MAC qualifying standard for outdoors in the event.
 
DeSales closed out the meet in the 4x400 meter Relays. The Bulldog's ran two relay squads ("A" and "B"). Relay team "A" finished in 5th place overall with a final time of 3:33.70. Relay team "B" placed 10th overall in a time of 3:49.41.
 
The Bulldog's will be back in action next weekend for the Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener University on March 27th through March 28th.
