CENTER VALLEY, PA (Sept. ___, 2026) -- On Saturday, September 5th, the DeSales women's soccer team had their annual Morgan's Light awareness game. The team asked all of the spectators to wear purple, to raise awareness for teen dating violence.  

Morgan's Light is a nonprofit that was created in memory of Morgan McCaffery, an 18-year-old whose life was tragically taken as a result of teen dating violence. Morgan's Light works to educate teens and young adults about the warning signs of unhealthy and abusive relationships while providing resources and encouraging open conversations about relationship safety. Morgan's Light has developed a special connection with the DeSales community through the Morgan's Light Alliance Against Dating Abuse, and DeSales women's soccer. Some athletes from the women's soccer team shared what the Morgan's Light game meant to them. 

"Morgan's Light hits close to home because I was lucky enough to know Morgan. This game means a lot because I never understood enough about domestic violence and teen dating violence until Morgan and awareness like this educated every generation by shinning Morgan's Light." Senior defender, Kayla Kinniry. 

"There is so much that I have been able to take away from Morgan's story. It is such a privilege to be a part of something that means so much to me personally. It is amazing to have the opportunity to honor her story and help shine a light on such an important topic." Senior defender, Kayla Heron.  

"This was something more than just another game for us. It was spreading light on such an important topic that everyone should be aware of. It was so meaningful for us to come together as a group and team to share Morgan's story." Junior defender, Grace Reteneller.  

This game was about more than just soccer, it was a chance to honor Morgan's memory, support an important cause, and help spread the message that everyone deserves a safe and healthy relationship.
