Center Valley, PA (October 18, 2008) – The DeSales University men's soccer team suffered its fifth straight loss falling to Misericordia University, 4-2, in an important Freedom Conference game on a breezy Saturday afternoon.

The game was marred by a total of 55 fouls and six cards (three for each team) as MU held a 14-9 advantage in shots and DSU enjoyed a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.

Misericordia (12-2-1, 4-0-1 Freedom) remained unbeaten in its last 10 games by opening up a 2-0 halftime lead in the first half. Cody Hack scored the game's first goal when flicked a shot on the right end line over a charging keeper off a pass from Max Campbell at the 15:16 mark. Hack assisted on the second goal when Tyler Mensch headed home a centering pass at the 33:09 mark.

The second half started with DeSales (5-10, 1-3 Freedom) cutting the lead in half as senior Andrew Marshall (Greene, NY/Greene Central) re-directed a centering pass from fellow senior Chris Ravita (Lebanon, NJ/North Hunterdon) just inside the right post for his second goal of the year.

The Cougars regained the two-goal lead 12 minutes later when Hack scored again unassisted as his shot from about 30 yards out looked as if it was going to be saved, but the ball went thru the hands of the DSU keeper and fell into the net. Mensch equaled Hack's performance with his second goal of day at the 84:31 mark when he scored after he gathered the rebound of his own initial shot and slid it past a fallen Bulldog keeper to make it 4-1.

Senior German Reyes (Beach Lake, PA/Honesdale) scored with 2:16 left on the clock off an assist from sophomore Aaron Gildner (Slatington, PA/Parkland) to make it a 4-2 game but that ended the scoring on the afternoon. Junior Keith Barry (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) made three saves in the loss for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Wednesday, October 22nd when they travel to Manhattanville College for another very important Freedom Conference game beginning at 3:00 pm.
