Center Valley, PA (April 24, 2008) – Junior Kelly Moran (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) continued to swing a hot bat belting her seventh home run of the season and the 14th of her career to break the all-time record and lead the DeSales University softball team to a sweep of William Paterson University in a non-conference doubleheader on another gorgeous afternoon.

The sweep moves the Bulldogs to 20-12 overall and gives DSU 20-wins for the first time since the 2000 season and for the first time under seventh-year head coach Rachel Turoscy. The 20-wins mark just the third time in school history DeSales has won 20+ games. Moran's homer came in the sixth inning of game two and was walk-off style giving DSU a nine-run lead in the second game. She ties the single-season record with the dinger (7) and moves into first-place all by herself on the all-time career list with 14 homers.

The Bulldogs terrorized the Pioneer (21-17 overall) pitchers all afternoon totaling 23 hits and 17 runs in the two games. In game one, DSU fell behind 2-0 in the second inning but cut the margin in half when freshman Kate Steiner (Walnutport, PA/Northampton) doubled home Moran who tripled to lead-off the inning.

The deficit was still one run entering the bottom of the fifth when the Bulldogs exploded for four runs on a two-RBI single from sophomore Kerri Andrews (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) and an RBI base hit from junior Amanda Kensecki (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) as DSU took a 5-2 lead. WPU answered with one run in the top of the sixth and DeSales put the exclamation point on the game one win with two more runs in the bottom of the inning as junior Jamie Pfitzenmayer (Annandale, NJ/Hunterdon Central) stole home and Andrews knocked in her third run with another base hit to post the final 7-3 margin.

Sophomore Kristen Cybularz (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Carroll) had her second straight strong outing tossing a complete-game allowing just five hits and two earned runs to improve to 7-5 on the season. Andrews finished with two hits and three RBI's, while Kensecki and Steiner (both doubles) each had two hits in the game one win.

Paterson started the second game on top as well posting an unearned run in the top of the first inning but it was all DeSales after that as the Bulldogs scored three times in the second inning to take a 3-1 lead and never looked back. In the second, Pfitzenmayer did the damage hitting a three-run home run to left-center field (her third of the season) and junior Maddie Roxandich (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) tacked on another run in the fourth with an RBI double.

DSU broke the game open in the fifth scoring four times on a two-RBI single from Steiner and an RBI base knock from freshman Jen Lococo (Easton, PA/Freedom) and Moran capped the game off with her blast in the bottom of the sixth inning to straight away centerfield scoring Kensecki who had walked two batters early.

Lococo earned the win in game two, her 10th victory of the season, going all six innings allowing just three hits and one unearned run, while striking out five and not issuing a walk.  Andrews, Moran, Steiner and Lococo all had two hits and Pfitzenmayer led the way with three hits and three RBI's in game two.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday when they host Arcadia University in the Freedom Conference regular season finale beginning at 1:00 pm.
