Bulldogs Break Single-Game Scoring Record, Tops Mt. St. Vincent, 10-0

Geneva, NY (September 13, 2008) – For the second time this season the DeSales University women's soccer team has broken the team record for goals and points in a game, defeating Mt. St. Vincent College, 10-0, in the first game of the Heron Cup held at William Smith College on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (3-1-1 overall) had broken the previous record of seven goals and 20 team points in a 9-0 win over Cedar Crest College on September 3rd but today topped that mark with 10 goals and 34 team points in the route of Mt. St. Vincent (1-4 overall).

DSU scored eight times in the first half and added two more goals in the second half. Leading the scoring attack was sophomore Laura Flynn (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) with two goals and two assists for six points. Senior Nicole Pietrobon (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) also had multiple points adding one goal and one assist in the win.

Also scoring goals were senior Katie Dishman (Nazareth, PA/Pen Argyl), freshman Sophie DeVincentis (Timonium, MD/Notre Dame Prep), junior Emily LaDuke (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall), freshman Amanda Fink (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth), sophomore Kaitlyn Gover (Northampton, PA/Northampton), and junior Lauren Wiggins (Whitehall, PA/Allentown Central Catholic).

Junior Gina Locke (Gardner, MA/Gardner) and freshman Haley Vollmer (Hamburg, PA/Hamburg) each had assists as 10 different players recorded points in the win. Junior Katie Halpin (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame) made two saves to record her third shutout of the season as all three of the Bulldogs wins this season have been by shutout.
