Center Valley, PA (September 20, 2008) – The DeSales University women's soccer team suffered its second straight loss, falling to Haverford College, 3-1, in a non-conference game on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (3-3-1 overall) had several chances to score that were turned away and committed some costly defensive miscues leading to two Ford (3-4 overall) goals in the loss. DSU held a 16-13 edge in shots on the afternoon and had a 5-0 edge in corner kicks.

Haverford struck first at the 25:20 mark when a DSU defender missed played a ball that ended up giving the Fords' Erin Dowling a one-on-one opportunity with the keeper as she knocked in her first goal of the season to give HC a 1-0 lead.

HC wasted no time taking a two-goal advantage as Sarah Andrade raced down the left side of the field on a counter attack and fired a shot from about 30 yards out that just went over the out-stretched hand of the Bulldogs' keeper and found the back corner of the net for a 2-0 lead.

DeSales cut the score in half just 1:12 later when freshman Haley Vollmer (Hamburg, PA/Hamburg) scored her first collegiate goal on a beautiful shot from about 25 yards that flew just below the crossbar and into the back of the net.

The score remained 2-1 until the 62:37 mark when Andrade provided some insurance taking a pass from Michele Buonora and knocking home a shot into the left corner and past a diving keeper.

Junior Katie Halpin (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame) made seven saves in goal for the Bulldogs, while Lindsay Festa made 10 saves in the win for Haverford.

The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday, September 23rd when they travel to Lebanon Valley College for a non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
