Center Valley, PA (October 17, 2009) – The DeSales University women's soccer team saw its five-game unbeaten streak come to an end as FDU-Florham defeated the Bulldogs, 5-1, in a Freedom Conference game played in extremely soggy conditions on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs fall to 6-7-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the Freedom, while the Devils snap their six-game winless streak and improve to 5-8-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the Freedom. FDU had a slim-13-12 edge in shots, while the Bulldogs enjoyed a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.

FDU took advantage of the soggy conditions over the first 15 minutes of the game, scoring three times on the side of the field with better footing. Junior Brittany Kanickij did all the damage for the Devils as she netted all three of the first three tallies, numbers 14, 15, and 16 on the year for her, staking FDU to a 3-0 lead at the 15:25 mark. The Devils added another marker at the 37:43 mark from Jenna Campfield, as Kanickij was again a factor delivering the assist.

The lead grew to five goals just 8:58 into the second half when Kim Campfield scored off an assist from Lora Fink, her third helper of the game, to finish off the Devils scoring.

DeSales was able to get on the board with 2:13 left to play as freshman Tori Kinek (Blandon, PA/Fleetwood) tallied her second goal of the year off a nice crossing pass from senior Emily LaDuke (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall). The assist moves LaDuke just one point shy of a tie for third place on the all-time scoring list at DeSales.

DSU returns to action on Tuesday, October 20th when they travel to Manhattanville College for a Freedom Conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
