Center Valley, PA (October 30, 2010) – A goal just 44 seconds into the game was all the DeSales University men's soccer team needed to secure a 1-0 win over King's College to finish the regular season unbeaten in the Freedom Conference, earning the #1 seed in the Freedom Conference playoffs this coming week.

The Bulldogs (13-4-2, 5-0-2 Freedom) earn the #1 seed and home field advantage throughout the Freedom Conference playoffs by virtue of its win on Saturday and Eastern University falling at FDU-Florham also on Saturday. DSU will host either Manhattanville College or Misericordia University in the opening round on Tuesday, November 2nd at DSU beginning at 2:00 pm. Misericordia gets the #4 spot with a win over Wilkes this evening. A Cougar loss or tie and Manhattanville will be the #4 seed.

On Saturday, DSU recorded its sixth shutout in seven Freedom Conference games this season as sophomore Adam Franczak (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) made seven saves to record his own personal fifth straight shutout. He has not allowed a goal in the last 535:12. Franczak has seven shutouts on the season and also owes half the credit to his four defenders in front of him including sophomore Tyler Nolan (Allentown, PA/Salisbury), senior Jon Mill (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty), senior Aaron Gildner (Slatington, PA/Parkland), and freshman Matt Metzler (Sicklerville, NJ/St. Joseph's Hammonton).

Sophomore Steve Krause (New Tripoli, PA/Northwestern) scored the lone goal of the game just 44 ticks in, his fifth tally of the season. He volleyed home a header flick from freshman Brett Morris (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) off a long throw-in from Nolan to open the game.

King's had a handful of good chances to score during the game but Franczak was there to answer every one. DSU had a golden chance to make it a two-goal game midway thru the second half when freshman Adam Berish (Blandon, PA/Fleetwood) had a crossing pass on his foot and a wide open net in front of him, but his touch sailed high to keep it a one-goal game.

The Bulldogs will be making their seventh appearance in the Freedom Conference playoffs and the first since the 2007 season. The winner of the Freedom Conference playoffs tournament earns the automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. LIVE stats will be available for all DeSales playoff games. More details on the post-season will come on Monday afternoon.
