Center Valley, PA (March 21, 2010) – The DeSales University softball team saw its four-game win streak come to an end as the Bulldogs dropped both ends of a non-conference doubleheader on another gorgeous day in Center Valley, PA, falling 2-0 and 6-2 to Lebanon Valley College on Sunday afternoon.

In the opener DeSales (7-5 overall) managed just three hits and had a runner on second base just twice in the loss. DSU did have a two-out rally in the bottom of the seventh inning when sophomore Christine Petrilla (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) and junior Kristin Schultz (Laurys Station, PA/Parkland) each hit singles, putting runners on first and second with two outs, but junior Kate Steiner (Walnutport, PA/Northampton) was caught looking to end the game.

Sophomore Katie Morrissey (Lanoka Harbor, NJ/Lacey Township) was the hard-luck loser as she pitched very well allowing six hits and two runs, while striking out nine over six innings of work in the circle.

In the second game, LVC took an early 5-0 lead after three innings with the big blow coming as part of the four-run third inning when Katie Freeman hit a two-run home run capping the scoring in the third. The Bulldogs got within three runs (5-2) in the fourth when Steiner roped an RBI single and senior Kristen Cybularz (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Carroll) knocked in Petrilla with an RBI ground out but DSU never really threatened the rest of the way, falling 6-2.

Junior Jen Lococo (Easton, PA/Freedom) took the loss, her first of the season, allowing five runs over three innings pitched. Petrilla went 3-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and Steiner was 2-for-2 with an RBI, as these two Bulldogs accounted for five of seven DSU hits. Petrilla also pitched four innings in relief allowing just one run and four hits.

The Bulldogs return to action Thursday when they host Montclair State University in another non-conference doubleheader beginning at 3:00 pm.
