Lococo Hits Three Home Runs in Doubleheader Sweep of Delaware Valley

Doylestown, PA (March 27, 2010) – Junior Jen Lococo (Easton, PA/Freedom) went 4-for-6 with three home runs and earned the game two win in the circle leading the DeSales University softball team to a doubleheader sweep of Delaware Valley College, 7-0 and 8-3, on a chilly Saturday afternoon in Doylestown, PA.

In the opener DeSales (10-6, 4-0 Freedom) dominated scoring in four of seven innings and sophomore Katie Morrissey (Lanoka Harbor, NJ/Lacey Township) did the rest as she tossed her second shutout of the season, allowing just three hits and striking out nine to improve to 5-4 on the year.

Lococo provided most of the offense including a solo home run in the third inning and a three-run shot in the fourth inning to give DSU a 6-0 lead. She finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs and four RBIs. Senior Kerri Andrews (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) had two hits, two runs, and an RBI, and junior Kristin Schultz (Laurys Station, PA/Parkland) knocked in two runs as eight different players had base hits.

In the second game, Lococo earned the win scattering seven hits over seven innings, striking out five to improve to 4-2 on the year. She also contributed at the plate hitting her third home run of the day and went 2-for-3 with two more runs scored and two RBIs. On the day she was 4-for-6 at the plate with six RBIs.

Andrews also had two hits, junior Sharon Yudt (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) scored twice, sophomore Christine Petrilla (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) had two RBIs, and senior Kristen Cybularz (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Carroll) had two hits and an RBI. Once again DSU had a balanced offensive attack as eight different players had hits and six knocked in runs in the game two win.

The Bulldogs waste no time returning to action when they travel to Kean University for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm tomorrow. Both LIVE Stats and LIVE Video will be available online for those unable to get to the games.
