Center Valley, PA (September 7, 2010) – Everything is going the DeSales University women's soccer way to start the 2010 season as the Bulldogs recorded yet another shutout on Tuesday afternoon blanking PSU-Berks, 5-0, to start the season 4-0 for the first time in school history.
DSU (4-0) not only has the best start to a season in school history, it also breaks the record for consecutive shutout minutes which was at 358:18 minutes set during the 2000 season. Dating back to last season, the Bulldogs have not allowed a goal in the last 365:39 and for all 360 minutes of this season. Junior
Melissa Millili (Deptford, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) has 270 scoreless minutes, after playing the first half in today's game and making three saves, and now has 275:39 straight scoreless minutes which is just under 90 minutes shy of the individual scoreless streak record at DeSales held by
Melissa Levush.
Freshman
Brady Walsh (Leesport, PA/Schuylkill Valley) and junior
Amanda Fink (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) each scored twice in Tuesday's win. Walsh scored the first and last goal on assists from fellow freshman
Lydia Younger (Macungie, PA/Homeschooled) and Fink, while Fink tallied the second and third goals off assists from freshman
Ariel Merkt (Easton, PA/Wilson) on both tallies. Senior
Amanda Ziegler (Aston, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) notched her second marker of the year on a free kick to round out the scoring.
DeSales returns to action on Friday when they travel to the Gwynedd-Mercy College Tournament to take on Catholic University in the first game beginning at 4:00 pm.
