Center Valley, PA (April 10, 2011) – A milestone was reached, a record was tied, and another record was broken as the DeSales University softball team split a Freedom Conference doubleheader with FDU-Florham on Sunday afternoon by identical 3-0 scores.

The milestone was reached by junior Katie Morrissey who became just the second player in school history to record 300 career strikeouts with nine this afternoon giving her 305 in her career. The record tied was by senior Jen Lococo who had two hits on the day to tie Kerri Andrews with 171 career hits and the record broken was by senior Kate Steiner who scored twice on Sunday to move into a first place all-time with 114 career runs scored.

In the opener, FDU's (9-13, 5-3 Freedom) Megan McInaw was dominant in the circle, tossing a three-hit shutout with five strikeouts to earn her eighth win of the season. The Devils scored once in the fourth and twice in the fifth to provide all the runs McInaw needed. Lococo, sophomore Julie Brugger, and junior Brianna Chilcoat had the DSU (12-8, 5-3 Freedom) hits. Lococo took the loss, scattering 10 hits over seven innings, striking out two.

In the second game it was Morrissey's turn as she tossed her own three-hit shutout, also allowing just three hits and striking out 10 for her fifth win of the season. The Bulldogs scored solo runs in the second, third, and fifth innings to earn the win.

In the second, Brugger hit her third home run of the season to put DeSales up 1-0. In the third, Lococo knocked in Steiner with a sacrifice fly to left field, and in the fifth Lococo singled, scoring Steiner once again to post the final score. Steiner and freshman Cassie Wagman each had two hits in the eight-hit game two attack.

The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday, April 14th when they host Elizabethtown College in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 3:00 pm.
