Center Valley, PA (September 20, 2011) – Playing in its first home game of the season the DeSales University men's soccer team put on an offensive show scoring eight goals in front of its home crowd to defeat Immaculata University, 8-0, in a non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon.

DSU (4-2-1) dominated every aspect of the game, out-shooting Immaculata (1-7-1), 26-6, and holding a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.  The scoring started just 40 ticks into the game when senior Derek Long scored his first of three tallies, taking a loose ball off a defender in the box and firing home a shot.

Long put away his second goal just 3:45 later, taking a thru ball from senior Jonathan Balfour and depositing his seventh marker of the year.  Junior Tyler Nolan got into the act at the 7:24 mark, scoring his first-ever career goal, unassisted off a loose ball inside the box off a corner kick feed.

An own goal started the second half when junior Padraic Farrell's cross was volleyed into the Mighty Mac goal by an IU defender at the 47:33 mark.  Long then earned his hat trick and his eighth goal in the last four games, taking another pass thru the IU defense from Balfour to make it a 5-0 game.

Sophomore Alec Dimitriadis got into the scoring at the 53:53 mark, scoring unassisted, his second tally of the year and sophomore Josh Himes finished off the scoring with two tallies in the 58th and 65th minutes.  The first came off assists from Dimitriadis and Farrell and the second off a cross from sophomore Adam Berish.

Freshmen Colin Sulpizio and Damien Romaine combined to make two saves securing the Bulldogs' second shutout win of the season.

DeSales returns to action on Saturday when they play host to Alvernia University on homecoming this weekend on campus.  Game time is set for 3:30 pm.
