Doylestown, PA (April 26, 2014) – Junior Carly Bartholomew went 6-for-7 with four RBIs leading the DeSales University softball team past Delaware Valley College by scores of 8-0 and 11-2 in a Freedom Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

The wins moved the Bulldogs to 13-16 overall and 8-6 in the Freedom Conference with the Bulldogs finishing tied for fourth in the Freedom Conference standings but DSU loses the tiebreaker with Misericordia University since the Cougars swept DeSales and do not earn a spot in next weekend's Freedom Conference Softball Tournament.

In the first game on Saturday, DSU broke open a scoreless game in the third inning with seven runs including a two-run single by Bartholomew, an RBI double from sophomore Samanthan Gibson, RBI singles from both junior Rachel Vogel and junior Kayla Adanalian and a two-RBI single from junior Taylor Kelly.

DSU added another run in the sixth on an RBI double from Bartholomew and sophomore DJ McCauley did the rest allowing just three hits over six innings, striking out four to earn the win.

Bartholomew finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs, McCauley, Gibson, and Kelly each had two hits and sophomore Emily Hockman scored twice in the game one win.

In the second game, DSU scored five times in the second inning and never looked back.  Kelly got things started with an RBI double, sophomore Michelle Gessner knocked in two with another double, and Bartholomew doubled home Hockman to finish the inning off.

DSU added three more runs in both the fourth and fifth innings as the Bulldogs won the eight-run rule after five frames.  McCauley earned her second win of the day in the circle allowing five hits and one earned run, striking out three.

Gessner went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, Bartholomew was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, McCauley added three hits and scored twice, Kelly had another two hits in game two, and sophomore Elisa Andrew went 2-for-3 in the win.
