Glassboro, NJ (October 14, 2023) - The DeSales University men's cross country team took second place out of 31 teams at the Rowan Border Battle at Dream Park on Saturday morning.
The Bulldogs went head-to-head against tough Metro Region competitors, including Rowan, Swarthmore, Moravian, Ursinus, Stevens, Widener, and Ramapo. Even with a shorthanded squad, the team was able to sneak a second-place team finish thanks to a plethora of personal bests at the home of this year's Metro Region Championship.
In the Championship 8k race, three Bulldogs received awards for finishing in the top 30 overall. Senior
Shane Artis notched a third-place overall finish, setting a personal best with a time of
24:57.8. Graduate student
Matt Santacoloma also came in with a huge personal best, finishing in 11
th place with a time of
25:17.1. First-year
Joey Wilson set yet another personal record in a time of
25:35.8, good for 26
th overall.
Rounding out the top five scorers for DeSales while setting personal bests were sophomore
Davis Trump (
25:40.1, 32
nd overall) and graduate student
Brian Bruno (
26:16.5, 67
th place). Several other Bulldogs set huge personal records in the Championship 8k race, including:

- Dylan Doskocil, First-year – 26:33.0, 100th overall
- Matt Chylack, Senior – 26:53.2, 127th overall
- Tom Greve, Graduate – 26:55.0, 131st overall

There were a ton of personal bests from Bulldogs in the Open 8k race as well, including:
- Jozef Callano, First-year – 27:05.9, 21st overall
- Antonio Rinaldi, Sophomore – 27:27.4, 30th overall
- Forrest Miller, Sophomore – 27:47.4, 39th overall
- Teddy Novak, First-year – 28:24.6, 60th overall
- Andrew Sidorski, First-year – 29:01.1, 77th overall
- Patrick Smith, Sophomore – 29:04.8, 79th overall
- Jaden Parrish, First-year – 29:51.5, 93rd overall
- Jordan Gallo, Sophomore – 29:53.9, 94th overall
- Chase Curry, Sophomore – 30:45.5, 108th overall
After an incredibly successful showing, some of the Bulldogs will return to action next Friday, October 20
th at Lebanon Valley University's Union Canal Tunnel Park for the Last Chance Run at 5:15 PM. Meanwhile, the top 12 Bulldogs will take a week of rest from competition to prepare for the MAC Championships on Saturday, October 28 at Misericordia University.
